It’s all fun and games until you have to fight a million soldiers for like 2 hours and you have to max all your stats just to not be 1 shot by minerva.
Ah truelly the best the PSP game ever made.

Fantastic combat system

The combat sucks.

The game is literally spamming your only attack button and the dodge/block button. That’s the combat.

You’re lucky if your square button isn’t broken after finishing the game from spamming attack.

I have played more complex mobile games.

I enjoyed it for the story but the gameplay was overly repetitive, you could just tell where almost every single combat trigger was going to be.

I never played the PSP version but wanted to know more about Zachs story because of the Nibelheim reactor incident and also because I bumped into one of his parents in Gongaga village who was asking about him during my original playthrough of FFVII, and always felt like it was cut content and he was meant to have a bigger role in the overall story of the original game.

Good filler content for sure, but I am not sure how the new direction they are taking with the FFVII “remake” is going to compensate for it. Hopefully with less of the extreme cringeworthy dance segments like the one at Honey Bee Inn. /puke
