Sonic and Pokemon are 2 different games. But even remotely similar. But has it occurred to you that maybe these people at your hypothetical job GREW UP ON THESE FRANCHISES? Sonic I can vouch for because I was born in 83, pokemon I know nothing about. I think you’re putting too much thought into this. Because another person could say grown men pretending to be a different soldier in a new war every year is “creepy & wierd”. I personally never understood the fascination with running around a map pretending to be soldier, pew pew pew. The moral of the story is, people like what they like. You really shouldn’t let it keep you up at night.

I mean Sonic on Genesis was great. Mania was great. The intervening years haven’t been kind to the franchise and the audience has admittedly tarnished the perception of the IP but I don’t see how someone who enjoys a good Sonic game is automatically a weab? Or a furry for that matter.

They were well made platformers.

Adult weeaboos are creepy, but the 30-year-old playing Pokemon and Sonic is creepier still.
