CD Projekt RED developer comments on Cyberpunk 2077’s delay, QLOC will provide additional support

A few days ago, we informed you about the possible reason behind Cyberpunk 2077’s delay. According to Polish insider Borys Niespielak, the game was delayed because its performance on current-gen consoles was underwhelming. And yesterday, both God of War’s director Cory Barlog and CD Projekt RED’s Benzenzimmern commented on this report.

Cory Barlog claimed that the major optimization tweaks happen in the final stage of a game’s development.

CD Projekt RED’s Benzenzimmern also agreed with Barlog, stating that the team is in the process of optimizing the game for all platforms. This includes PS4 and the PC. Furthermore, Benzenzimmern claimed that the team is also fixing numerous bugs so it can release a more polished product.

Now while Benzenzimmern claimed that a “They delayed the game because of X” report can make a good rumour, both him and Barlog actually confirmed that report. After all, the game is indeed in the optimization phase. And if the game was running well on consoles… well… they wouldn’t be implementing any further optimization tweaks, would they?

In similar news, QLOC announced that it has partnered with CD Projekt RED. QLOC will provide additional support with game development and quality assurance testing.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release in September 2020.
