In reply to DanSenju. I got about the same with 1080, 32GB, 3770k. The SW demo had a very nice movie quality to it. Atomic Heart was nice, but didn't wow me.

regardless, what they’ve done here is a great kickstart to raytracing.

Previously, people were saying “it’s useless now, wait for another several years”

A few months later, we can play a fully raytraced Quake 2, Battlefield with realtime reflections, and Metro Exodus with GI that makes it look next gen.
The fact that there is a consumer product out there that allows for realtime performance with raytracing is a huge deal. The fact that Nvidia jumped on the raytracing bandwagon right now gives it a lot of momentum. Whether that is research, implementations in games etc.

I bought a rtx 2080 at launch, and I find myself extremely satisfied …. metro exodus with active rtx effects is a geme changer…best rtx implementation to date and worth the € 100 extra in comparison to a 1080ti…

In reply to John Mellinger. it is not really about performance. we want to see if AMD will support DXR or not on their current cards. before this they pride with themselves with saying their card support all the DX12 feature that some of them not even exist with nvidia pascal.
