So then yeah, we need even more subtle foliage (foliage in the puddles/ground etc everywhere too) instead of just “floor textures” or plain puddles etc. And it’ll take time so I’ll be fine until it’s the time to buy an RTX10K60 or something at a decent value xd (using a RTX2060 Laptop GPU now).

Apparently our need for VRAM capacity (and parallelism) is still increasing exponentially as I went from 256 MB (got a dGPU late back then) to 2 GB (like, “right before 2010 vs right after 2010) to 6 GB RTX in 2021 and next I’ll probably be looking for over 30 GB VRAM (as another future-proof upgrade) once direct storage access becomes more common and starts to make some real difference etc. This or they’ll end up having to switch to modular units instead of a huge a$s single dGPU so my upgrade path will be a little smoother I guess.

Not to mention that AR is finally right around the oncoming corner here (the tech is ready with 4nm EUV processing and it’s only waiting for Wi-Fi 7 for the low, <2ms latency and many wide channels etc) so the "ARM/RISC-V mini PCs" will probably start making more sense than laptops or even smartphones for most people when the switch to AR starts in, later this year I guess. And yeah these "ARM etc PCs too can run Nvidia GPUs as that's what the" PC" part stands for there: It's not a dumbed down, so called "smart" but actually just a "phone" so it'll be fine, even the gaymers will want to switch from Intel/AMD (and even Intel has gone through strategic changes to shift their focus from solely building Intel chips to providing manufacturing & design services for 3rd party contractors so nope, there won't be any architecture related wars or anything).

It's already decided: ARMv9 is the new "x86" which might get some competition in the form of RISC-V (and they'll be more of less compatible with each other and be able to find the same dGPUs/eGPUs etc same PCIe, Thunderbolt etc capabilities).

RDR2’s lighting complexity and diversity is apparalel. It’s a trademark of all GTA’s as well, even the old ones.

Reconstruction is better than standard upscaling, however it cant match native picture quality. If something moves even a little bit (for example camera in god of war) sharpness fluctuate. Also not everything is reconstructed with good results, usually only high contrast edges looks good.

Maybe on 4K monitor FSR2 looks acceptable, but at 1440p I can still see imperfections (sharpness fluctuation and less fine details). I”m playing uncharted 4 right now, and I prefer locked 48fps at 1440p than over 60fps with FSR2.

Digital Foundry (people who talked with Epic) has said on multiple occasions in ther UE5 videos that lumen is form of RT. This is screenshot from their twitter discussion, where one guy was trying to say that lumen is more impressive than RT, and look what John Linneman has said to him (I need to link screenshots, because upload pictures function never works for me).

Now Epic is even using hardware triangle RT, because they get much better results as you can see in digital foundry fortnie update analysis.

There’s better GI quality, no light leaks and especially reflecion quality is much better.

UE5 is all about real time GI, and that’s one of the main reasons why it looks so impressive. If you want real time global illumination, then you must trace photons of the light (ray tracing), and this is exactly what lumen is doing, just in simplified way for performance saving
reasons.

But I think reconstruction is great. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/f0b24376ac1164366ce6e699d5dc6b470009be3f27e4afcbd077b272170428d0.gif

Fortnite now make full use from HW RT. There’s no light leaks, better GI quality, and much better reflections quality.

People just want everything, better than console graphics, at 4k running 120 fps and you can’t use reconstruction as well because that’s “cheating”.
PC gaming is pick your poison, chose what you are gonna sacrifice… resolution(now better with reconstruction)? Effects/quality settings? Or yes, even the mighty FPS….
Do you want the best looking version maxxed version at 30? Go for it, in a single player game on a controller it’s absolutely fine.

Forget the FPS counter and focus on the experience.

The comments obviously don’t have 40-series GPU. I don’t have but that’s because it’s coming in the future.

BTW he’s comparing the Nvidia captures with RT Ultra, unlike Nvidia who did against pure rasterization.
