DX10 was out for years and barely anyone used it.

DX11 was out since 2009 and it only went full force since 2013 onward.

DX12 is only gaining a lot of traction now due to being needed for RT and upscaling.

i’m not going to read any of your sht. TLDR. You like gaslighting people because of your whole superiority act. I’m not neurotic you d0rk. That’s what you get off on. When someone is onto your petty sht, you start backing up and insulting them. Go fk yourself, I hate people like you. Durka durka, towblerone & PB do the same cr.ap. I know ppl that will agree. I see the same MO.

You like taking sht too far because you can’t respect other ppls opinion. Go fk yourself Shitstain.

People also like to be contractions and contradict that something popular isn’t also good.

And yet, The Witcher 3 is still the best game ever made.

It did materialize in a ton of titles actually. Just not … all of them.

The impact of RT is not “minimal”. At 1440p the game will hit well over 144 fps, but as soon as any RT feature is used, it drops to 60 fps. OK if you are already targeting lowly 60fps I guess.

When I enable any single RT feature in Direct X12 it drops to 60-65 fps even with DLSS on. DLSS Quality in this game also looks really blurry compared to 1440p native. Hence, I’ve been playing with DirectX11 and it looks gorgeous.

However, the biggest issue for me is the gameplay. Combat, movement, inventory, loot is clunky, overcomplicated and disappointing as hell. Though I appreciate the world-building and character development, the underlying game is 3/10. The game is a chore to play and simply not fun for me. The icing on the cake came when I went to fast travel between signposts and the screen just stayed black; a bug that has been reported since 2015. A shame when I thought I would love it after enjoying other open-world RPGs like Zelda:BotW and OoT, AC:Origins/Odyssey, God of War (2018), Horizon: Zero Dawn, Batman Arkham games and GTA:V. Those games had good controls and mechanics. The Witcher 3 does not. This is very, very far from the “best game ever made”, especially when viewed through the lens of 2022/23 (I’ve been gaming since the mid 1980s). It is quite telling even on Metacritic where the top rated user reviews after 2015 are all red, while the the OMG 10/10 reviews are all from 2015. People were blinded to the gameplay issues and only saw the graphics and production values of the cut scenes.

The water has also been fixed in the non-RT version with better screen-space reflections/transparencies.

Gaslighting? Keyboard warrior? What are you going on about? You’re being strangely neurotic and combative about something so incredibly insignificant. I think you need to step away from the keyboard and go for a brisk walk outside. When you’ve come back to your senses, feel free to read the rest of my comment.

Okay, let’s go over this again, this time more thoroughly. RT is Ray Tracing, which is lighting related technology and has been around for DECADES before Nvidia even existed, let alone the before creation of the RTX abbreviation. Nvidia did NOT invent this. It is not EXCLUSIVELY part of Nvidia’s RTX.

You are correct about RTX, it is indeed a marketing term. It is used by Nvidia as an all-encompassing term for a bunch of their hardware and software features, including ray tracing and DLSS/DLAA.

This is directly from Nvidia’s developer webpage on RTX:

The RTX platform provides software APIs and SDKs running on advanced hardware to provide solutions capable of accelerating and enhancing graphics, photos, imaging and video processing. These include:

Ray Tracing (OptiX, Microsoft DXR, Vulkan)
AI-Accelerated Features (NGX)
Rasterization (Advanced Shaders)
Simulation (CUDA 10, PhysX, Flex)
Asset Interchange Formats (USD, MDL)

The first sentence in your first comment says “RT is not bs, depends on how they implement it.” You then say “Take a look at A plague tale: Requiem.” As I explained before, that game currently has NO RAY TRACING features, i.e. no ray traced reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion, etc. Everyone in the comments section is talking about how these effects being ray traced is useless as they can be faked well enough, and then your comment reads like you’re trying to refute them by using A Plague Tale as an example of good implementation of ray tracing, which is nonsensical because as I previously stated, that game doesn’t use ray tracing.

After I point that out, you respond by saying “I use DLAA and it’s quite nice.” You didn’t even acknowledge that the game has no ray tracing effects, so that’s why I followed up with asking what DLAA has to do with ray tracing and also asking if you’re mixing ray tracing with nvidia’s RTX.

You then double down and start diverting from the original point, instead talking about how GPUs aren’t powerful enough to handle ray tracing alone and need DLSS to mitigate the performance hit, and concluding that they don’t go hand in hand. And then after I pointed out that you’re mixing up RT and RTX, you go on your tirade about how you’re not letting me get the last word and trying to gaslight you.

Now I don’t disagree with what you said about the benefits of RTX, but now you’re starting to completely derail from your original comment and my issue with it. So let me make it very clear: RT and RTX ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE! We just have a miscommunication error here on all sides, that’s all.

*EDIT* LMAO what a coward, he didn’t bother to read, proceeded to toss ad-hominems then blocked me! I tried being nice and reasonable, and this is what I get. No wonder some people just stick to trolling, it’s just too easy to trigger these snowflakes over the most mundane things.

AFAIK , RTX is the marketing name of NVIDIA GPU Since turing (20xx), they used GTX moniker before that (pascal 10xx and before). I dont think it have any abbreviation attached to it, but CMIIW. Im not trying to gaslighting, btw.

Read my first comment. I was spot on. In my second comment I was referring to the overall quality vs fps. I was adding to it if you may.

I know what DLSS and DLAA do as well as RT. RT and RTX are the same sht. One stands for Ray Tracing, shadows and lighting, and the other Ray Tracing Texel, is a marketing term that stands for the same sht added the Texel, being a texture element, or texture pixel. A fundamental unit of a texture map.

You can’t catch me offguard with this cr.ap you keyboard warrior you. Nice try tho.

You’re not gonna have the last word so stop gaslighting me. (manipulating someone using psychological methods into questioning their own sanity.)
